Create activity-centric composite views from existing applications
Developers can extend existing Adobe Flex and HTML applications to expose business logic from their enterprise systems, processes, and content into application "tiles." These are context-aware componentized applications that can then be assembled to create activity-centric composite views that best suit the user's work habits and specific needs.
Through these unified views, users no longer need to sign in to multiple applications or drill down through each of them separately, saving time and effort. Less training is required for new employees as well because the Adobe LiveCycle Mosaic application eliminates the need for employees to learn all the features and navigation systems of each of the underlying source systems. The new user interface gives them only what they need from the back-end systems.
Interact with intuitive and customizable views
Business users access Mosaic applications using a client that runs in Adobe AIR or Flash runtimes. Users can add, delete, and rearrange tiles to customize their views. Mosaic also supports role-based access, so different managers can access and interact with the same tiles in views customized for them. This helps ensure that only the relevant functionality is provided to each person, shielding business users from the complexity of enterprise applications.
Mosaic applications also maintain a persistent state, so any changes a user makes — such as customizing the layout, creating new views, or drilling down into information — are retained, eliminating the need to repeat the same steps every time they return to the application.
Accelerate application development
Mosaic uses a composition approach to enable developers to build applications faster. Instead of building a large monolithic application, developers can use Mosaic to easily create application components (tiles) that expose the business logic contained in existing Flex and HTML applications. Development work can be spread across a team; developers can create and test tiles in parallel and later assemble them into a full application. Store tiles in the Mosaic Catalog, and share or reuse them in future projects.
Mosaic includes out-of-the-box skins, shells, and layout managers to help developers quickly create a variety of intuitive interfaces. They can also use their own skins and shells and develop their own layout managers and then plug them into the Mosaic framework to be able to brand the applications with their own look and feel.
Simplify integration with core business systems
Leverage your current investments by integrating your application tiles with your existing business logic and infrastructure using the Adobe LiveCycle Data Services open adapter architecture to connect with Spring, JMS, Hibernate, EJB, and other data persistence mechanisms. Backed by a powerful data management API and connectors, the module simplifies client-server data communication from multiple sources, including collaborative content shared across application tiles in real time
